Some interesting logic at work here what does your nationality have to do with what you said?
I understand the sentiment so I'll explain my feelings at least.
You go to Africa and you see news stories come out that they didn't want to let us in to help their Ebola crisis ... I'd assume because they're ashamed of their sanitary conditions in their hospitals.
Come back here and see people complaining that their tech savvy jobs don't make Hollywood money and you can't make the biggest global footprint possible with some glorious neighborhood sized house. I dunno about you, but just that thought alone brings me a little perspective when I'm bitching about ads slowing down page load times.
I found people to be more verbal in the East, in general. NE or SE. Maybe size of the cities matter, too, and other factors. I grew up in the NE--people complained non-stop, looking back. Initiation into being a Nor'Easter I guess. Hehe. If you moan too much in the South, you're "fussing" and it's frowned upon if it goes on too long. Very interesting how different regions are accepting of complaining or not and why, etc...

In the West people are generally offended by complaning I find, even if the gripe is quite legitimate and needs to be brought up. It's part of the non-confrontational and supposedly "laid back" culture here. I think we probably inherited it from the South but Westerners are also more quiet and reserved so even more so really.
When I lived in Arizona, just about everyone I knew was from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania (basically in that order).
Arizona is an exception because of the snowbird phenomenon, but even then I'd say most of them are probably either born in Arizona, California or Mexico.
