Are you open to Upstate NY? I'm only asking because the housing will be more affordable and you can still get the other things you are looking for.
Given your budget, you can take your pick as to where you could live in most, if not all of Upstate NY. Don't let the fact it is in NY State fool you in thinking it would be expensive and you would have to consider property taxes in any of these locations.

We are open to upstate New York, although we are leaning more towards being close to the coast. I have not ruled it out however, as it is a beautiful area, and seems to be great price wise. We would kind of like to be closer to either NYC, Boston, Providence, etc though. The finger lakes region does seem very intriguing though.

You also have a couple of Great Lakes and other smaller lakes as well, if you are open to that.
