Well, I will try and answer seriously, but your original question is a bit off-putting, as the first five are obviously not cities, but parts (or boroughs of one city).

So, from a westerner (maybe the best unbiased view), here we go.

1. New York City. A #1. The biggest and most important city in the U.S.

2. Boston. Love the culture, hate the drivers.

3. Philadelphia. Great top 5 city, distinct personality, glad they started allowing highrises a decade or two back.

4. Wilmington. Not sure. Just drive through.

5. Baltimore. Gritty, and lately, Ghastly.

6. Washington. Most are not from there. But what a great place to visit.

7. Trenton. Near Philly...Not much more except maybe an important college?

8. Princeton. College town, definitely. Not much more except a midpoint in NJ

9. Pittsburgh. The only town on your list that seems more midwestern than east coast.

Here's a West Coast perspective:

Manhattan -- Skyscrapers, Money, Glamour
Brooklyn -- Close to Manhattan
Bronx -- Close to Manhattan
Queens -- Close to Manhattan
Staten Island - Close to Manhattan
Boston -- Close to Manhattan / Harvard
Philadelphia -- Close to Manhattan / Benjamin Franklin
Wilmington, DE -- Isn't Joe Biden from Deleware?
Baltimore, MD -- Is that close to Washington DC?
Washington, DC -- Federal government
Trenton, NJ -- close to NYC
Princeton, NJ -- Is that where the college is located?
Pittsburgh -- the Steelers

Boston is about as close to Manhattan as Los Angeles is to Las Vegas!

And honestly it's probably a much longer drive if you take traffic into account...

1. Manhattan, NY -- financial capital of the world; "If I can make it there, I can make it anywhere"
2. Brooklyn, NY -- used to be a dump, better now but still Manhattan's poor stepchild
3. Bronx, NY -- used to be a dump, and still is
4. Queens, NY -- blue collar meets immigrant melting pot
5. Staten Island, NY -- seems too suburban to be part of New York City
6. Boston, MA -- home of snooty colleges; historic
7. Philadelphia, PA -- also historic; sees itself in New York's shadow
8. Wilmington, DE -- credit cards
9. Baltimore, MD -- very pleasant Inner Harbor area; very un-pleasant slums; sees itself in Washington's shadow
10. Washington, DC -- The. Most. Im-por-tant. City. in. the. World. (as anyone there will tell you!)
11. Trenton, NJ -- Trenton Makes, The World Takes (famous sign on a bridge visible from the Amtrak bridge)
12. Princeton, NJ -- no, they're not trying to trick you; this really IS where Princeton University is located
13. Pittsburgh, PA -- steel town

Yes, but the poster did say that this was from a West Coast perspective. I'm sure the folks out there see the entire Northeast Corridor as nothing but an indistinguishable blob of overcrowded urbanization.

11. Trenton

No history lovers here? When George Washington took Trenton in the Revolutionary War, it restored morale in an army that was on its last legs. The battle is memorialized in the famous painting Washington Crossing The Delaware.

First things that come to mind:

1. Manhattan, NY - Tall Buildings. Tons of tourists. Big and noisy. Times Square. Statue of Liberty. Empire State Building. Etc.

2. Brooklyn, NY - NYC's second most famous burrough. Large hipster population (I think?).

3. Bronx, NY - Yankee Stadium. The burrough you often drive through to get from BOS to Manhattan.

4. Queens, NY - Very diverse. TV show "King of Queens" set here.

5. Staten Island, NY - NYC's least famous burrough.

6. Boston, MA - Best city in the country. Hub of the Universe. Etc, etc.

7. Philadelphia, PA - Cheesesteaks, Liberty Bell, Will Smith.

8. Wilmington, DE - Mid-Atlantic equivalent of Hartford??

9. Baltimore, MD - Crab Cakes. Inner Harbor. National Aquarium. Song from Hairspray.

10. Washington, DC - Nation's capital. National Mall. Smithsonian.

11. Trenton, NJ - City you drive by when going from BOS to DC.

12. Princeton, NJ - Like a college town, but for an ivy league school. In New Jersey. *shudders*

13. Pittsburgh, PA - Hills. Steelers. Andy Warhol. Primanti Bros.
