Has anyone else spent time in both Boston and San Francisco and found them to be quite similar?

They are more similar to people who haven't spent time in either of them and are observing from afar.

Shouldn't this be in city vs. city?

They have many similarities, but they're still pretty different. Though the more I keep visiting the two, the more they seem to be growing similar. A lot of what made San Francisco a unique city is fleeting quickly due high living costs.

On paper they are very similar, but I don't know how they compare when there's boots on the ground.

Friends who have spent a lot of time in both have told me they've got a lot in common.

I've always thought so. First time visiting Boston was in 1989 (I'm born and raised in the Bay Area) and was astounded at how similar the cities looked.
