Canada is way, way, way more like the US than Europe - give me a break. Complete delusion from some Canadians here. We have one of the world's longest borders, one that's basically unprotected and used to be so easy to cross it was like driving to another state.
Yeah I would say Canada is maybe 75% American, 20% British and 5% Asian culturally.
Europeans would LOL at the idea Canada is more like them than the US. It's so cute when some Canadians think they're so different than their neighbors to the south.

More like 80% American, 15% French, and 5% Asian.
Canada and the US are very similar. Both came from Britain, for one. We don't really have anything along the lines of Quebec in America, though (although Louisiana has the French influence).

Sorry i must be missing something but where are the Canadians who are making these claims?

I was more thinking of Anglo-Canada in particular.
Other difference is ghetto. In the US the ghetto is mostly in the downtown area. Where in Canada the ghetto is mostly in the suburbs.
Take Jane and Finch area in Toronto or Finch and Albion!! If it was the US city the Toronto down town core will be mostly ghetto and non white!!! well much of Jane and finch and finch and Albion would be white in housing and no apartments.
Other one is Vancouver east side!! IF Vancouver was US city the down town would be mostly the ghetto and well the east side low housing for white people.
In Canada like the UK the ghetto is mostly in the suburb. Where in the US the ghetto is mostly in the city and the suburb white middle class.
This is because of white flight and segregation part of US history. Where Canada and the UK was mostly white people up to late 21 century.
Toronto and Vancouver life closely resemble NYC or LA living in my opinion. Canadians are becoming more Americanized culturally and their cities are as well in my opinion. So much so I could actually foresr a merger within the next 50 years as "lofty" as that sounds. Pretty soon all cultural differences will be gone.

Canada has more in common politically with north west part of US than any where else in the US. And Quebec have more in common politically with Europe than Canada politically.
The US is split politically and very divided country. Where Canada is more unity and united. With the exceptions of Alberta and Quebec politically is very different.
Such future I see is US south split own country, north west part of Canada,Quebec part of Europe
In future have 3 or 4 country . If the lines are drown politically.

Alberta is traditionally the most right-wing province in Canada but very recently they voted strongly for an NDP government which would be to the left of the American Democrats. It's too soon to say if this is a just a blip in history or if it means that Albertans are not as conservative as we've always thought them to be.
