I think there is less peer pressure here. A friend moved out of state, in with an atheist who sends his kids to Catholic school and sometimes attends church because of "societal pressure". Not sure how this man would answer this survey Most and least religious U.S. states | Pew Research Center

It appears to me that Washington is getting more religious compared to when I was a kid. But this could just be my perspective.

The West in general feels much less religious than the East and I prefer that. I really hate when people try to shove their religious values down my throat. Nevertheless most people here are still Christian, but just not your stereotypical devout kinds.
