Does such a place exist?

Also, would this area have access to good medical care?

Well I am just thinking... We spent a ton of money to move and hubby has a good job so I highly doubt we would move again,.... But I thought, what if we could afford to buy a home for $100k, it would truly help us out financially!! But sadly here on the central coast of CA, such a place doesn't exist unless you want to live in a mobile home. We just came from (and lived all our lives in) New England, where aside from living in remote Maine or crime ridden Central Falls, RI... Such a place doesn't exist (and neither of those areas had good access to medical care unless you want to travel to Boston.. And neither has good schools).

But it made me think... Does such a place even exist in the U.S.?

Closest I can think of is perhaps Winston Salem, NC. Some areas have decent schools.

NC overall has pretty good healthcare throughout the state. In general, I would think your best bet would be college towns, although some of them are definitely priced over 100K.

I am pretty sure schools in NC are under assault by the Koch brothers though. It could be a major problem.

Isn't that true in most places?

Its definitely a huge problem as long as we dont have publicly funded elections and billionaires can buy politicians. So far it seems like NC and WI together with Kansas have gone further down that path of dismantling public education by gutting the funding and attacking public employees in general. Its certainly something to keep a close eye on.
