Where I live in Northern VA an ever increasing number of people are living in apartments, condos and townhomes. They don't look out at grass and trees but instead, look out at concrete and other buildings. This must have an impact on how they see life.

When I grew up in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis/St Paul MN area) back in the 1960s there were very few apartments and basically no townhouses or condos. Nearly everyone lived in a detached single family home with trees, flowers, grass and a nice yard to throw a football around. Other than the yard care, I think it gave nearly everyone a higher quality of life. In the last ten years they have built more townhomes, apartments and condos but still most people still live in detached single family homes.

What metro area has the most people living in the detached single family homes in 2015?

Large Houston, Dallas, Atlanta
Medium-Austin, San Antonio, Jacksonville
Might seem Texas Centric list but only did cities I have explored, NOLA might be one also.
Top Metro Areas
NYC is the only area under 50%, but basically the South except Florida and points West (Including Midwest)

Any metro area with a lot of sprawl has a lot of detached single family homes.

this answers the question fairly well

Here are the most common types of homes in each US urban area (which aren't the same as cities) - Greater Greater Washington

Interesting and what I expected... according to the second chart of Occupied housing.... The light blue bar signifies ATTACHED HOUSING.

--Philly and Baltimore LIGHT BLUE BAR THE LONGEST.... SO THAT IS THE .... MOST ....ATTACHED HOUSING ....THAT ARE ROW HOMES AND DUPLEX.
--Chicago and Dallas light blue bar APPEARS TO BE THE SHORTEST.... SO THAT IS THE ....LEAST.... ATTACHED... LIKE ROW HOMES SO MORE SEPARATED HOUSING.

The second chart here....

Looks like Tampa, Phoenix, and Riverside are the trailer park meccas of America.

Somehow I don't think caps lock was necessary.
