People from every city/state seem to say that residents of that place will gladly insult their city, but if an outsider bashes it, they'll get defensive. I think that's just normal (and not even specific to geographic areas), and the places that will gladly accept criticism are the unusual ones. Chicago is one of the unusual ones if you talk to the right kind of people, they think it's a hell-hole and can't wait to leave.

I agree with one and three. People in SoCal aren’t usually complaining about two. And honestly, same in the PNW where the weather is fairly reliable.

A growing tech sector.

I mean, pretty much every city does, but it's really not at all unique to any one city
