Nice to see none of the darkest red in Allegheny County though I'm not too surprised because most rankings of metros for high school diplomas show the Pittsburgh metro of having one of the lowest proportions without it.

But we are changing daily. Everyday more and more highly educated smart asses from the educated areas up north are moving South. So there is hope.

The information on this map for my area doesn't jive with other demographic info available. This particular map states that 13 percent of the adults in my zip code don't have a high school diploma, whereas other sources state that 93 percent do. Also, the median income in my area is higher than the state median, as is the percentage of adults with college degrees. So this makes me doubt the accuracy of this map.

I'm quite shocked!!! I grew up in Iowa, and I guess it was just assumed everyone would have a bare minimum high school education.

My zip I grew up in has around 17,500 adults and only 2.38% don't have a high school diploma.

In my zip code in Chicago it's 2.08% that don't have a diploma.

It could be a matter of when the information was taken, as this is from 2009-2013. That means that it is an average of the information for those years in regards to US Census information. So, if you have information from say 2010, it may show something different than this information, as it covers a range versus an official tally for that specific census.

Also, it could be based on estimates, which can be off in some regards. So, that may be something to consider as well. With that said, changes in regards to population growth and in terms of who moves into or out of a zip code could be another factor.
