I've never travelled this entire country, so my answer is based on photos. The scenery of the West is most striking and beautiful to me. Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Denali, Bryce Canyon, the islands of Hawaii, Death Valley, Big Sur... I could go on.
West. The varied topography is what gets me every time. From sand dunes and treeless desert expanses, to the deep, lush forests of the PacNW, to the coastline, to the canyons and red rocks, to the mesas and pine forests, rolling hills to 14K snowcapped mountains... so much to love and so much to see.
From the Hudson Valley to the Alleghenies to the Adirondacks, the Presidentials, Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, the Fingerlakes region and Maine's vast forests. A lot of beauty in a small area.
I can see where a lot of people will pick the West though, especially considering ot occupies nearly half the country.
