German and English ancestry are both very common in the West.
Same in Texas. Lots of German immigrants ended up in Texas. But they settled in clusters in central Texas. Overall, their numbers aren't particularly high in Texas. In fact, Texas is one of only four majority-minority states (where "white, non Hispanics make up less than 50 percent of the population).
I don't agree that Maryland and Delaware are a part of the South though. Culturally and linguistically both states are more Northeastern than Southern.
