One man doesn't represent all gays in Texas.

Definitely Southern, but not southeastern like, say, the Carolinas.

It depends, honestly; if you include places like Louisiana and Arkansas in the Southeast, then East Texas can be considered 'Southeastern' as well.

I met a lot of gay men in Texas that are like that though. Just saying. It's not just one.

In major cities (the actual urban cores), or in suburbs of those cities? Where you in rural outskirts outside of those cities?

I was in Dallas. And right in the city. I met men like that right in oak lawn. I saw the same type of thing in atlanta too. Southern conservatism does that type of thing.

Well, I highly doubt that too many of those types of Gay men exist in those cities to matter anymore, considering that both Dallas and Atlanta are known to have huge gay pride events, and are quite LGBT friendly, with loads of protections for the group. I doubt a gay would feel so afraid in those cities anymore as to not come out of the closet.
