A better title for this thread would have been "two dudes argue about the desert."
Me, I can find beauty in just about anywhere. Except West Texas! That's just butt ugly, and even Texas people agree!
It's fascinating to me how diverse the continental United States is, and yet it's all connected ... You know, flows together. From the Pacific to the Atlantic. Deserts. Forests. Mountains majesty. Fruited plains. This land was made for you and me. All that stuff. You know?

If you find West Texas ugly, then the areas of the Great Plains (Oklahoma, Kansas, etc) won't be any different. Extreme western Texas has scenery like the desert SW, so if you find West Texas ugly, you won't be liking much of the SW US either.

That would be a better title Newsboy. I believe I argued with him a while back... Many Arizonans see what he says and take it personally... Remember this is the Internet folks.
Not saying this to be inflammatory but I am not a huge fan of mountains/hills. Yes they are pretty to look at I find walking up inclines to be exhausting and constantly zigzagging roads to be nausea inducing lol.

I don't really have a dislike for specific biomes or terrain features.
This might be too small, but I've never liked spanish moss. I know a lot of people think it's pretty, but I've always found it creepy
Well, it also has microscopic, biting insects in it, so you dislike it for good reason. Generally never had a problem with any landscape, but I'm honestly not too big on tropical places with lots of palm trees. Honestly it just feels more humid/swampy than say tropical paradise. Also, while I don't have to have super hilly, I can't stand complete flatness. I also think the beach, at least by the ocean, is overrated. It's like a mirror for the sun and it's salt water and no shade so it's almost like being in a watery desert, where the sand all sticks to you. Give me a freshwater spring run, waterfall or lake any day.
I think most underrated feature is a good deciduous forest. Underappreciated, but it looks different in every season, usually smells good, and serves as blanket from sun in summer and wind in winter. Also is usually pretty quiet and contemplative.
It's one of the reasons I think I'd have some trouble living out west, but I could still do so if it was at altitude to where temperatures were moderated.
Honestly, the Grand Canyon was a bit of a disappointment when I finally saw it... smaller than I thought it would be, lol.
are you sure you weren't at the Meh... Canyon? they are pretty close to each other.
