I dont see why you hate condos so much. Id love to live in a high rise as a second home, yea yea if I won the lottery! I wouldnt want to live in LA, id fear my personal safety! You however are right about the internet and freedom of location! I was thinking of living in the wrong locations but if I can live anywhere, why not where the costs of living is very low and nice houses can be had for $50k? I would never pay much for a tiny house but thats the fact in Florida so im outta here.

Living in a condo is like living in a prison. The condo board controls your investment, you can't do anything without their approval. If the building falls apart the government throws you out till it's fixed. If a disaster hits you rely on insurance to get your condo back. I would rather live in a trailer on my own lot than in a condo.

I agree that LA is unsafe, and it's ugly too, unless you are rich. Compare your parents and grandparets standards of living to ours today. They had it a lot easier when it came to finding an affordable home. So Cal is 10-20 years ahead of FL when it comes to stupidity. They became unaffordable in the 1960's and florida did in the 1980's.

I am tired of seeing only older people buy homes around me, it would be nice to have someone in their 20's buying a home. People are creating their own condos/apartments by living 10 to a house up in Miami. In the past it was common for young couples to move into their own home. Nowadays most end up living with their parents...sad.

are you saying you cant even sell the condo without their approval? Maybe you are thinking of co-op or long term lease(such as 99 year) where you dont really own and have the rights much like a renter. If a building falls apart, it arent safe to live in, be it a house or condo. The previous generation did have it easier but todays generation can have it easy by settling down in towns instead of metro cities. I bet todays big cities were once towns and used to be cheap.

You are right, most first time home buyers tend to be middle age, many married and planning on starting a family. Seems that most of the young people rent for many years till they marry and settle down, many relocating to a town or small city with low costs and low crime. I still live with parents and instead of living with parents forever, I am getting my own house, just not in Florida(unless someone is willing to "give it away" for under $100k and it has to be a nice one too) I got Oil city, PA high on my list. They have houses as cheap as high 4 figures and many to choose from under $50k. This is what I consider affordable to a young man like me looking to buy his first home.

NAH... based on your post it sounds like your business has not even been set up yet. You have lofty goals for a startup company... nothing wrong with that, but you shouldn't buy a house, even if you pay cash, with $0 guaranteed income. Just curious...

Ill have an income before I move out and buy. It doesnt take much to afford a $25k house, heck some can be had as low as $10k! The costs of living is so low, even if my business starts slow, ill be fine.
