its an awesome drive .. scary as hell but worth doing .. you can see it on Google Earth street view ... I checked it out before I made the trip. you can find vids on youtube from people that filmed their trip. Its even scary to watch lol
I forgot I was at work and I can't get Google Earth. I was using Google Maps and there is no street view but I got a lovely preview of the museum and visitor's center.

Do you remember back in the day you'd always see these cars riding around with "This Car Climbed Mount Washington" bumper stickers? I used to think, oh how tacky. But after making the trip myself, I am happy to let anyone who has done so put a bumper sticker anywhere they want. (Been there, done that, bought the bumper sticker!)

It's called "The Lochsa Highway" aka hwy 12 from Lolo, MT to Kooskia, ID. Great drive.
It's hard to take a bad drive in western Montana. Though I HATED the drive between Helena and Three Forks on Hwy 12.
Thanks. I was too in awe of the beauty to remember the highway. Man, I love Montana and Idaho!
