My husband and I are planning to move from Liberal Ontario, Canada to the US. We are trying to pick a state that has the most conservative Christian freedoms. Homeschooling rights? The right to not vaccinate? Low taxes? Small business friendly?
Looks like SC is your other option. I have no problems with home schooling and midwifery, but I'd rather the kids in our schools be vaccinated.
The state sales tax is 7% (Similar to the former PST in Ontario. If memory serves, the national and provincial GSTs are "harmonized" in many Canadian provinces now, correct?). There are exemptions for store-bought foods and other items. As you probably know, there is no national sales tax in the U.S. Income tax is a flat 3.3%.
As far as anti-vaxing, I disagree with this position- you should get your child vaccinated. I think it's proven to be effective. I understand the opposing views. Just want to say though- anti-vax and Christian are not the same thing all the time, at all.
Maybe try New Hampshire? Not that far from Canada, but much freer.
No. Please don't tell an anti-vaxer that Indiana is perfect for them. My advice would be to A.) Vaccinate your kids B.) Don't come to Indiana C.) Don't go around people anywhere until you do vaccinate them D.) Once A is accomplished, send your kids to a real school so they can learn the importance of things like being vaccinated E.) Vaccinate your kids again. F.) If none of the above (except B), move to Northeastern Ohio near Cleverfield.
