Got friends in the UK and they complain about NHS all the time.
Everyone likes to complain but I also have friends in the UK who are pretty happy with the NHS, especially when they look at our so-call healthcare system here in the US. They can't believe the phenomenal costs and the fact that people die because they can't afford medical services here.

Or more commonly go into bankruptcy and lose their homes. It's truly a splendid system we should be thankful for.
I would think in the grand scheme of things, the quality of life in first world countries is pretty similar today. That of course is provided you have some resources.
For me, it would be about living in a place that has a little more history....I live in one of the larger U.S. cities, and it's all about tearing down older/historical buildings to build "luxury condos" or more office space. (Not that I am against change, but it's sad to think about places that I used to visit as a child which no longer exist)
Okay then, I have known young people who moved overseas for similar reasons as retirees. Better and less expensive health care and lower COL.
Add to that the adventure of moving to another country is very appealing to some. I'm not talking about people who move to another country because of marriage or jobs, but those who like the challenge of living in someplace very different from their home countries.
People usually try to wind up the place that suits them best. No one place is the best for everything for everybody. You have to look at other people's situations to see why they want to move out of the US. It may be perfect for you but that doesn't mean it's perfect for everyone else. It may be inconceivable to you by your criteria of what you think are the best circumstances in which to live but not everyone will agree with you.
Have you traveled much outside the US to make first hand comparisons?
Social mobility is also now lower in the US than many European countries, and I believe Canada, Australia, etc.
How can they get free education
They're not citizens!
