I may as well say how I feel about Texas.
Geographically it is beautiful. Many parts of the state would get old to live in but are wonderful to see as a visitor, several other parts are gorgeous no matter what. Hill country, the far western mountains, the Gulf coast, etc.
Socially it is a mixed bag. I have many Texan friends I made while living in Louisiana. They are all good people. Sadly there are many educational, political and "loud minority super Texans" problems there that tarnish the TX image in the eyes of the country.
I could never happily live in Texas truthfully, but I love to visit it.
A poster stated his opinion in regards to this thread. Other posters, however, disagreed:
And the argument then ensued.
Bad call on my part for mentioning Texas.
I should have mentioned North Dakota and we'd be hearing crickets chirping.
Anywho... I'm not a native Texan, but I like it here okay. But like someone else said, there really isn't anything here that I can't find elsewhere. It's just another place to live for me. The culture here is very unique though.
Texas is one of those things that people aren't "allowed" to have dissenting opinions on. Like if you don't love Texas, you're cuckoo (especially within Texas). Texans tend to love Texas, and it perhaps has more pride in itself than any other state (much less than the rest of the nation has in it, however; Texans occasionally fail to grasp that concept).
I have no opinion about Texas, because I am unfamiliar with Texas.
Colorado seems to be liked by all for whatever reason. TN, NC and VA seems to be well liked for Southern states.
