I wish I could be a native Californian or even a native Floridian.
Completely opposite here. Aside from the better universities out there, the "California attitude" seems like one of nose-thumbing, petulant incompetence, while Florida shows all the symptoms of somewhere infamous for crime news and for bragging about having a region called the "redneck riviera".
Give me good old New England road rage, sour-tongued Ivy League grads, and harsh northern winters any day.
You can move to somewhere with a lower COL and that will make a huge difference in your quality of life.
Also, being on the west coast vs east coast vs middle of the country, you will notice huge difference, in terms of climate, culture and everything else. I absolutely think it makes a massive difference.

I grew up in the Northeast, at 18, moved to Phoenix, built a career here, and in two years, moving to Los Angeles to spend the rest of my life. For what it's worth.

It will make a huge difference mainly in terms of how much house and real estate you can afford. However, you will take a hit in terms of proximity to amenities and job hotspots.
As long as you have enough money, you can move anywhere. And with the internet, lots of people can find roommates without setting foot in the city. Relocation is easier than ever, far easier than back during the Great Migration, that's for sure!

So its bad for Florida to brag about having a "Redneck Riviera" (which is a more tongue-in-cheek name anyway) but y'all can brag about having road rage?
This is very strange to hear. I look back at most of my peers from college (I'm 28 now) and at least half are working in cities that they neither grew up or went to school in. Personally, I moved from South Carolina to the DC area 5 years ago with about $10k that I saved up teaching English abroad.
