I doubt I'm in the right part of the forum but this section has a great group of posters .

I have some time off at the beginning of next month 5 days to be exact and I want to take a quick spur of the moment trip somewhere with my girlfriend . We would prefer to stay in the u.s but are open to the Caribbean or Mexico or Canada.
I am on a budget however because I have bigger trips planned later in the year .
Flights are covered so I won't have to add that into a budget .

What are some recomendations for a quick 2-3 day trip somewhere , I want to be able to walk around and explore a city by foot and easy public transit and have a good mix of beach / pool relaxing drinking and hitting the town and enjoy a good pub or live music
I'm open to a more adventurous / outdoors trip.
Some places I've been that I don't want to revisit at this moment ( Vegas , Portland , la , Dallas , Tampa , block island , Boston , buffalo and Syracuse .

I also live in upstate New York so I'm open to some cool " stay cation" ideas too

Going north, try Montreal. Not a beach town, but an incredibly vibrant city to explore and have fun.

Going south, look at Savannah (Tybee beach nearby), or Asheville NC, for in-town fun + nearby hiking, rafting, fishing etc,

Going further south, Key West. No strong beaches there, but pools, heat, clubs, and fun + sailing, fishing, snorkeling, etc.
