Hi, so visiting Mass from CT. I couldn't believe how people smiled, acknowledged you, said hi, and so forth. Not sure if it was because I was on the Cape, but it was amazing.
What do you think is the friendliest State in New England?
As an LGBT individual myself I would say cities where one could move/find a job and have plenty to do would include places like Portland ME, Providence RI and of course pretty much anywhere in Metro Boston. Other places mentioned above (Provincetown MA, Burlington VT, Northampton MA, Ogunquit ME) are more/less smaller resort towns or too small for most to land in and carve out a niche if needing to find a sufficient paying job.

I agree with all of the foregoing and there may be a considerable sprinkling of the LBGT community in other places like the Berkshires.
Jamaica Plain, MA - right outside of Boston - is a great little LGBT-friendly community that still has the larger-city connection. Somerville is a little further, and also super LGBT-friendly. Agree 100% with Providence, RI and Portland, ME. Northampton is LGBT-friendly but very white, very provincial, and very tourist-heavy. The Black Rock section of Bridgeport in CT has become much more all-around friendly as well as LGBT-friendly, and I think New Haven and areas around Hartford are the same.

Jamaica Plain is very much part of the city of Boston
