I live in the Philadelphia area and will be moving to the city very soon. One thing that I love and hate about living in the Northeast is the winter weather. Although I love the change of seasons and wardrobes, I am naturally an outdoors type of person. I hate the cold, but I am used to it. Other than that, I would not change anything else! Philly is my favorite city, and the Delaware Valley has everything one could possibly ask for (mountains, beaches, a large city, beautiful older suburbs, excellent public transportation, etc.).
sure, for a city of 1 million but not for a city of 8.5 million.
It's not about percentages in this case, it's not like a city that's 25% Mexican automatically has better Mexican food than a city that's 10% Mexican. All that matters is that there's a sizable community.
This kind of thing is subjective...but if you like Mexico City and Puebla style food, NYC has a lot of it. I'm sure LA does too, but it's probably not the norm.
Of course it's subjective.
NYC is nowhere close to L.A. in terms of Mexican food, it just isn't. Los Angeles pretty much IS Mexico.
There are at least 500,000 Mexicans in NYC, why would it be hard to believe that there is good Mexican food there?
I never said New York didn't have good Mexican food? My comment was a joke about how the NYT is obsessed with belittling LA and a claiming to have better Mexican food is an indirect but prime example of the things they often say.
But even then, I still think LA handily beats NYC in Mexican, no contest. LA is nearly 1/3 Mexican, compared to NYC's...5-6%? That's like claiming LA has better Polish food than Chicago.

Let's give credit where credit is due.

LA certainly has more variety in Mexican food, as more Mexicans live there and more of Mexico is represented. Plus all the Americanized Mexican food, for those who are into that.
But my point is that people don't seem to realize that there are actually many Mexicans in NYC, and that the Mexican food scene has gotten a lot better over the years.

Many Mexicans? I wouldn't use the term "many," but okay.
Never said anything about Mexican in NYC getting worse or better, just that it's not up to par.
