Not defending Houston, but suburbs like Kemah, League City, Freeport and Galveston are right on the water, and downtown is 40 miles to Galveston, just trying to post facts

New Orleans sits on what is basically an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, and Houston's city center isn't far from Galveston Bay.

Dallas and Houston may be hotter than Miami but is it the humidity more in Miami than Dallas and Houston?
Heat and a certain amount of humidity really doesn't bother me. But New Orleans is the only U.S. city I've ever been to that I was truly uncomfortable with the heat/humidity. It's really think!
I live in Houston. Moved back here last year after 15 years away. When I walk outside with my sunglasses on, they fog up. Doesn't matter what time of day it is.
And yet, this is not the hottest or most miserable place I've lived in within the state of Texas. That honor would go to Wichita Falls, where we once had a year (2011) of over 100 days of temps of at least 100 degrees...it was a major factor in our decision to move away from there.
It was the same in DFW that year. Nice and toasty.
I was told it does not get really hot in OK. 104F in the shade and windy. It feels like a furnace.
Inland areas of VA? Anywhere on an immediate coast will have ocean breeze, whether in VA or FL.
