Yes, I found MOST people in Central OH to have a twang in their speech, but that's all relative considering I come from the Upper Midwest, specifically Minnesota.
Pin-pen merger, and drawn out vowels. It's typical in the lower Midwest, but there's still a fine difference between the way they speak and the traditional "southern accent."
Each to their own, though, I guess everything's relative.
I have heard Southern accents in Hagerstown, MD btw... just not by locals. Mostly shoppers from WV or the like.
Once I was in Minnesota and I was watching a commercial for "Duck Dynasty".... that is about the most north I have heard a southern accent... also about the furthest north I have been.

Really, dude? I've never heard anything that sounds remotely like a southern accent anywhere in Minnesota (or Wisconsin or the Dakotas for that matter). Though there's definitely a similar aesthetic between Duck Dynasty and some rural Minnesota hicks (though I've never seen a Polaris jacket on Duck Dynasty), the accents couldn't be any further apart.
The furthest north I've ever heard southern accents was at a gas station in a town outside Champaign, IL.
The furthest west I've ever heard southern accents was Fresno, CA (the descendants of Okies who moved there during the dust bowl).

Uh, it was a joke... I heard the accent on TV while in Minnesota...
