The most beautiful US bridges cannot be driven on: they are for nonmotorized use ONLY:

The stone bridges on the Acadia NP carriage trails, each one unique. It is wonderful that NO CARS are allowed on those trails or bridges.

Brooklyn Bridge
Ben Franklin (Philly)
Smithfield Bridge (Pittsburgh)
Westinghouse (Pittsburgh)
3 identical bridges of Allegheny (Pittsburgh)
Wheeling Suspension Bridge (Wheeling, WV)

No particular order, these are my favorite bridges I've walked across. And yes I am PA biased

Then we might add the Bow Bridge in New York Central Park, the footbridge in Boston Public Garden or those stone bridges along the Riverway... what other nominations?

In The Wissahickon Park in Phila there is a covered bridge for pedestrians-I think one of the only covered bridges in a major city.

Also, over the Wissahickon is the Henry Ave Bridge. Fascinating history-it was originally intended for subway to run underneath.

New England covered bridges-- in Phila! Very nice. Also the low stone bridge and then high stone vaulted bridge above it. Beautiful.

Suburban Atlanta (Smryna, GA) has a covered one lane vehicle bridge called the "Concord Covered Bridge". It was constructed in the 1800's and has between 7,000-10,000 vehicles that use it daily. It is currently undergoing a rehab.
