Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows which U.S. states have the strongest and the least strong high school football cultures? Just curious.

I think we would be number one for high school football culture in the U.S.The Friday Night Lights are a way of life in West Texas in towns like Midland,Odessa,,Abilene, and San Angelo.Odessa Permian was the subject of the book and movie "Friday Night Lights."The schools like Mojo and Midland Lee were really good back in the day but it seems like the best football teams are in the big metros like DFWA,Houston,San Antone, and Austin now.HS football is still big in small towns all around the state of Texas.

I think it's less of a state thing and more of a regional thing. I taught high school in a rural school in Missouri and the town LOVED the high school football team. Myself, I went to high school in a larger city in NC and most people didn't care at all about high school football. College football was another story though...

While it is a regional thing here in Texas I think the three most expensive high school stadiums are all in Texas. Katy (my town), Irving, Allen and now McKinney (All in Collin County) now trying tp build super expensive stadiums. It's a competition to see who can get closest to 100 million dollars over here...

I'm expecting The woodlands to try to jump on that list also, even though their teams tend not to be as good as Katy. Maybe Plano will try too, if they can find the space.
In the coming years expect-
Round Rock or Georgetown or somewhere off Lake Travis in the super rich hilly area west of Austin.
Somewhere in the Northern half of San Antonio, Collin County will probably have eight 50 million dollar stadiums by 2025, I think they currently have three or four.
and finally Somewhere north of Fort Worth.

Pennsylvania has a strong football culture, but it's unevenly distributed; very strong in Metro Pittsburgh, east through Altoona/Johnstown and the former Anthracite region of the Northeast; but not so much in smaller rural districts where soccer is more easily funded. Pennsylvania has no counterpart to the 6-man football of the southwest.
