Looking for a fairly progressive/liberal environment, with a decent number of tech jobs, that has affordable housing where a family can live on one income, and is pretty. Preferably 4 real seasons, as we're coming from Florida and would like our kids to get to see seasons

So far, Durham, NC and surrounding are is my best find. Anywhere else I'm missing?

Skyrocketing cost of living is a factor in most major metros today OP. Your choices today are basically expensive and kind of expensive.

Maybe the Albany NY area: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tech_Valley You could add mountains and proximity to the Bos-Wash corridor to the list in this case as well.

It's relative. Denver is cheaper than the big tech hubs like Boston, the Bay Area, and DC.

Minneapolis or Madison would work. Maybe a little more expense than Durham though.
