One jurisdiction. Eliminate all those duplicative city government crap. Just don't let the Dallas folk be in charge of aesthetics. They try too hard and it comes off as sterile (character-less)

So what?
The city of Houston provides service to Clearlake and Kingwood. That's a good 50 miles apart. City services cover an area well over 1000 sq miles. Point? Everyone keeps saying city limits are unimportant so why would distance matter especially if the city are already providing services?
By that logic, we should just consolidate all metros into their own respective municipalities.

Seriously... don't even suggest that.

Just Fort Worth and Arlington then... Maybe that would get Arlington some character and public transportation, and you'll be bigger than Dallas. I'm sure you guys will still complain that you're overshadowed though

I say DC should reannex Arlington County and Alexandria.

Baltimore City with Baltimore County

Atlanta and Sandy Springs

Tampa and Northwest Hillsborough County

Richmond and Henrico and Chesterfield Counties

Nobody wants Arlington. I doubt Irving or Grand Prairie would want it.

Heck cut the city in half landWise.
I wish most of Texas cities de-annex. 599 sq miles? That's crazy.

Arlington needs to figure out what it wants to be, first.

If it was possible, for New York, the obvious answer is Hudson County which would also become Hudson Borough. The other possibility for New York is Yonkers and Mount Vernon.

Of all the cities, I think San Francisco has the most justification for expanding (importance of the City and its future growth is undermined by the currently small land base). But I do not know the area so I do not how resistant the suburbs are to being annexed like here in the Northeast. Maybe a weak metropolitan area government combining the communities around the Bay area but still giving them much of their independence would work best.
Personally, I think Hudson County should annex NYC.

I honestly think that NYC should annex Yonkers, make it part of the Bronx, and redraw the Westchester/Bronx County Line to move it from Westchester County to Bronx County
