States with two largest cities in same metro area (vs, rated)

I can think of only two states where the largest two cities are in the same metro area are there others?

MINNESOTA: 1 Minneapolis 2 St. Paul (Twin Cities)
ILLINOIS: 1 Chicago 2 Aurora (Chicagoland)

In SC, the second, third, and fourth largest cities are all in the same metro (Charleston, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant).

Oh, and of course, there's Rhode Island. The entire state is in the Providence MSA.

Both Newark and Jersey City are within the same metro area, though it's anchored in another state. As a matter of fact, New Jersey's 8 largest municipalities all lie within the New York metropolitan area. If you want to get technical, Newark and Jersey City belong in different metropolitan divisions but for all intents and purposes, they lie within the same metro area.

In New Jersey the top eight largest municipalities are all in the NYC metro.

Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, Edison, Toms River, Trenton and Clifton.


The ninth and tenth largest municipalities Camden and Cherry Hill are the Philly metro.

Also Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada.

Maryland has Baltimore and Columbia within the same metro area.

Although Washingtons second city is Spokane at 213,272, its third city, Tacoma, is not far behind at 207,948. A difference of only 5,324 and Tacoma is growing more than twice as fast as Spokane since 2010, 4.8% vs 2.1%.

Also Oregon's second city, Salem (overtook Eugene this decade), is its own metro area but is part of Portland's CSA.

Salem: 164,549
Eugene: 163,460

However the second largest city in Portland's metro is Washington's fourth city, Vancouver, at 172,860, but Vancouver has the possibility of becoming the second largest city if annexes a lot of unincorporated areas to north that was also planned back in 2006 but fell through in the end.
