There's been a lot of foodie threads, Italian, Mexican, Seafood, all that. But I don't think I've seen a breakfast thread, where what's served can vary across the country. Ran across this...
Yeah, another slidy show link. But it got me thinking and wondering what they are all serving up locally in other cities and states that are fairly authentic and local for breakfast.
In Seattle I always ordered smoked salmon eggs benny, in New Mexico a breakfast burrito smothered in green chile or huevos rancheros covered in red chile sauce. What are they serving up in your state? Runs the whole gamut from greesey spoons to Bloody Mary's & shrimp for Brunch.
Scrapple was a breakfast staple for me growing up in Philly/Central Jersey.
"Scrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name Pannhaas or "pan rabbit,"[1][2] is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices. The mush is formed into a semi-solid congealed loaf, and slices of the scrapple are then pan-fried before serving. "
Why am I not surprised for Texas? Snooze in Austin may actually be good, but come on. There's tons of amazing breakfast places in San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and dozens of small towns across Texas. Obviously there is no objective measurement on these lists other than overhyping one's particular restaurant or city. I think I'll hit the "snooze" button on Snooze.
Oh wait it gets better! Snooze is from Denver, but they opened up another location in Austin. So it's not an authentic/local restaurant of Austin area.

Portland over here, and yea Tasty and Sons is a culinary masterpiece, but I was thinking more along the lines of any place with a good bloody mary bar , lol....
(there is a lot of good breakfast to be had in this town)

Not really city specific, but I grew up often eating an Irish breakfast-eggs, roasted potatoes, bangers, bacon-rashers, blood pudding, fried tomato, beans and soda bread.
