But I think city proper is what we want to compare here, nobody is talking about Suffolk County when they say NYC.
Also, Brooklyn is extremely diverse too.
Even if one looks at Suffolk County, there are some places that are diverse like Deer Park or Bay Shore or have a high percentage of a non white group like Wyandanch or Brentwood. There are others. So, it is a matter of which communities you look at.

Yeah I was actually gonna mention that. Same thing with Nassau, including my own hamlet.
I can say that in Houston (in the city itself), you will see a great mix of people from all over the country and world, for example in grocery stores, restaurants, and shops. You'll hear a lot of languages. The suburbs are rapidly becoming the same way (e.g., Fort Bend County on the southwest side of the metro is largely Asian).
I've really seen the same thing in places like L.A. and NYC, so it's not just Houston.
In Miami the Cubans, Haitians, and Northeast transplants/snowbird all stay in their own separate worlds and often don't even live in the same parts of town.
South Florida's like that everywhere.. zero melting.. it's sad.
People walk right past each other and if you're not "of their tribe" they will completely ignore you.
NYC = A more than a century ago melting pot which has added many different ingredients since then.

Out of the ones listed Houston for sure. Truly have all races of people from all different backgrounds there. Although I should note that from a diversity standpoint Oakland was actually ranked the most diverse city.
