Green mountains;, beautiful, classic New England villages,: red barns, white church spires; maple syrup, a politically liberal population, cold snowy winters
I find it a lot like like eastern upstate NY (counties bordering on Lake Champlain) except less dilapidated, less redneck.
Similarities: same cheese (blasphemy, I know), same northwoods culture, little dairy farms and pumpkin patches carved out of the forest, forest, maples, forest, maples, maple sugar, ski areas, forest, barns.
Differences: more money, more nice (if not luxurious) cars, fewer guys in hunting plaid and Carhartts standing around smoking cigarettes in 0 degree weather, small, fewer lakes, better/more ski areas by area, less deep wilderness than New York.
