The US currently has 811,000 Canadian-born immigrants. California, Florida, Texas, Washington state, New York, and Michigan seem to be the most popular destinations. I'd make a guess that many are retirees looking to flee the cold winters or immigrated for a job.

Good observation...the border states and Florida would be the obvious ones, but is Texas really a leader for Canadian immigration? I can see California being on the top destinations, but not sure about Texas.

Yea, more Canadians moving to Texas than they are to Michigan and almost as many as Washington. Most of them concentrated in Houston. That seems to be a heavy indication that oil might have a lot to do with that.

Yeah, the Calgarians (and Edmontonians to a lesser extent). Torontonians are very few here. One of my professors came to Houston to follow his long-time girlfriend (now wife) when she came down to study here.
