Looks like it should be "natch- i- toe- ches" not " nackadish"!

Thanks to those who contributed, but I'm thinking more like this example, not whether it's "Na-Vay-da" or "Ne-vah-da"...

Taughannock looks like "taught" ( as in past of to teach), do it looks like it should be "taw Ann knock", but is " tongue-can-knock".

In NJ we have a very wealthy shore town called Mantoloking, but most pronounce it Man-a-low-kin. NJ residents frequently butcher the spelling because they spell it phonetically. I often see "Manalokin" for example.

We have a town called Secaucus and people still are divided as to how to pronounce it. There's SEE-kaw-kiss and Se-KAW-kiss. I don't even know if the people who live there or are from there have come to a consensus.

It's pronounced that way pretty much everywhere except Texas ("HEW-stun"). My office was just off HOUSE-ton Street in NYC, and I grew up in Atlanta just off HOUSE-ton Mill Road.
