New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles come to mind.

Because of all the media coverage of crime and Illinois's finances, people seem to either really hate or really love Chicago.

I agree with several that have been mentioned like LA and New York. I'd also add New Orleans.

I've never heard of masses of people stating they hate Seattle. Maybe complain about the weather, the "Seattle Chill" or plain looking women there thinking they are all that (this, obviously coming from frustrated men there) but never anyone declaring that they just hate Seattle.

Albuquerque

There never seems to be a middle ground because it is so distinctive.

Either people love it here because of the culture, beautiful outdoor scenery, low cost of living etc. etc.
or they hate they it because they feel the crime is a little high and the schools are sub-par.

This seems to be true with New Mexico as a whole: either the "Land of Enchantment" or the "Land of Entrapment"

Anyways, I like ABQ and I am not moving anywhere.

Las Vegas for sure. I know several people who vacation there multiple times a year and are absolutely in love with all of the amenities on the strip.

My dad is from NYC and went to Columbia and he is super smart and intellectual and he thinks Las Vegas is a cultural wasteland. I happen to love it.
