Despite recent election results, you could lump Virginia in with these conservative states. An hour drive outside of DC and the confederate flags pop up.
Nah, Virginia overall isn't as conservative as GA and TX. You see Confederate flags in rural Maryland too.
You're definitely a homer to say that Atlanta is "more of a long shot" than Dallas and Austin. All things considered, they all have an equal chance at landing HQ2 more or less.
Dallas has a bigger tech scene than Atlanta and benefits from being close to Austin and vise versa. Although not known for Tech, Houston is a massive city close to both of them.
I think that is the advantage the Texas Triangle has over Atlanta, that an no state income tax which is alot of money for these 100k jobs.
I don't think it's being too much of a homer to point out these advantages that I think puts Dallas or Austin over Atlanta.

I need to see some stats or ranking on the tech thing. I don't think Dallas is in this higher tier than Atlanta when it comes to that.
Atlanta's advantages over Dallas include its universities and mass transit. The advantages over Austin are mass transit and the airport. All things considered when factoring in the pros and cons for each city, they are more or less in the same boat. Practically even publication that lists cities with the best chances of landing HQ2 have Atlanta near the top and for good reason.
Sort of a stupid/arrogant list the WSJ has posted when not considering any Canadian potentials particularly Montreal and Toronto. Whether you think it should go to a Canadian city or not, both Tor/Mon have a lot to offer and even the WSJ stated that many experts consider Toronto as a strong contender.
Isn't that kind of like Edmunds stating that the Toyota Camry and Chevy Malibu are the best mid-size cars but not including the Honda Accord in the comparison because they were too lazy to drive one?
