I think Oklahoma could easily fit in the MidWest and Florida in the West, next to California.

I don't find Fla to be anything like CA, or anywhere in the West.

Oklahoma strikes me as more Southern, but I'll agree that there is a definite Midwest influence. Florida to me seems to be in a class on its own. It doesn't strike me as "Southern" in the way that Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi are. West Texas seems more Southwestern than Southern, but East Texas is definitely Southern. In the Dakotas if you go west of the Missouri or the 100th parallel you're getting more Western than Midwestern.

The Midwest is a large region. I don't see Oklahoma fitting in with Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Michigan.

To me, Oklahoma seemed more like Missouri and Kansas than any Southern state.

Kansas is more like Oklahoma in most of the south-central and southwest portions of the state. Kansas is at the very far southwest edge of the Midwest in the eastern portions. Oklahoma is a hybrid of the South-Central Plains, Upland South, and Deep South (McCurtain County).

Fla as Western? Just can't see it. Why do you think so?

Southern Florida is similar to Southern California.
Beaches, palm trees, sunny weather.
