People move down south for the good life.

Also, there have been winters where people in areas have golfed in January. Not often, but to be terrified, is laughable.

I used to live in Cleveland when I was a kid. I don't want to experience anything even remotely close to that Winter weather ever again, and so far I haven't.

My definition of good life is probably a bit different from yours.

I ski 80+ days each winter, including at least a million vertical feet in the moguls, so for me the good life is living in Deer Valley for ski season. It will be deep sub-zero at midnight for a week or so in January, but aside from that it is very good skiing weather.

I want world-class live entertainment, fine dining, and excitement, so I live in Las Vegas for much of the rest of the year. Las Vegas isn't that hot; it rarely gets above 115. But that doesn't matter as I go from my air conditioned house to my air conditioned garage to my air conditioned car to wherever I'm going and that's air conditioned, too.

Because there is no fine dining and entertainment outside of Las Vegas.

Whatever that means. Some people retire to Maine for the good life.

I never said people can't live the good life outside of the south. You made that inference.

You said people move south "for the good life", implying it can't happen up north. Weather/scenery, is one of the most subjective things in the world.

Yeah, because I read the Maine forum and plenty of other things here. People love retiring to Nevada, among other places.

I wasn't criticizing your post, but just making a comment.

It's weird, but I've never equated the south, with the "good life." Actually, kind of the opposite. To each, his own.

The weather's warmer, the people friendlier, the food tastier. Sure there are problems here, but every place has its issues.
