Thanks to the internet it doesn't really matter where. It seems just as big here in the Midwest as anywhere else. I was mostly into anime over ten years ago in the mid-2000s and it's popularity seems to be about the same nowadays as back then, maybe just slightly more mainstream.

I knew people who watched anime back in the 90s at school, but didn't get into it until roughly 2004-2005ish. Suncoast and Best Buy were my go to places to purchase my favorite series, can't really do that anymore. Either Rightstuf.com, Ebay or Amazon.
