What states change a lot in culture when you travel 100 miles in any direction from your home, assuming you don’t end up in another state?

New York State is a big one.

Huge change from Manhattan to the Catskills in 100 miles. Also, a little over 100 miles to East End Long Island. And about 200 miles from Manhattan to the Adirondack wilderness.

This will definitely skew towards western states. Much more dramatic changes over short distances.

Washington. You can be on a glacier, in a rain forest, and in a bone-dry desert in one 50-mile span.

Can you get a good pizza in the Catskills?

And if you wait a few years, the glacier will be a desert, right?

100 Miles in New Jersey in culture? So much diversity and change packed into the Garden State. You cover a myriad of cultures. From the past paced city/suburbs in North Jersey to the laid back, country vibe Southern part of the state, and all of the variations in between.

Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, Wyoming and Alaska. Not many states can compare to the amount of changes you can experience in a short distance.
