Yes, but apparently Min-hyun and Wei have been living out their lives there without being victimized, so yeah, that's why Miami ranks so high. If either of them ever get mugged, Miami will flip to the top 5 most dangerous for Asians!

I'd also argue that you need to look at more than homicide rates to determine whether a city is considered "safe" or not.

Assuming the OP is basing the cities/metros according to homicide rates by race/ethnicity, Chicago as #1 safest for Asians has a lot of merit, I believe. You never hear about Asians of any type(Indians, Chinese, Filipinos, etc) being killed here. I only heard of an Indian college student being killed in a gas station robbery in a suburb back in Dec.2017. The Asian homicide rate in Chicago proper is probably 0 or very close to it. Asians(especially the Chinese and Indian community) are thriving here.

Precisely. Homicides only account for a very small percantage of violent crimes amd even then as spoken before it's predominately in the shady networks within poor neighborhoods. A whole metro which covers large areas is going have a dynamic range.

Yeah, I've realized how rare it seems to hear about any Asian or white homicides in the city, especially random/violent deaths.

The combined rate falls between 2.0/100,000 and 3.0/100,000 on any given year. Many of those tend to be domestic as well since the overall numbers are so low. The news seems shocked and people are all shook if a white person is actually gunned down in the city or dies in a robbery, it's just so rare. Then they report hundreds of other murders on the west and south sides and it just comes off like statistics.

Besides the whole methodology of these lists (as with all lists, rankings, etc.) why the focus on race and so forth? Seems like unnecessary racial baiting and obsession.

Well let's say you're a white person and you want a safe city to live for yourself. You would be better off living in a city like New York or Boston rather than a city like Oklahoma City or Las Vegas.

The whole country is like that with some exceptions
