Dubuque and NE Iowa are exceptions to that rule. Central Iowa is remote, flat and boring IMO.

It would be a nightmare, except that hurricanes don't hit the West Coast.

I chose:

Oregon - What can I say? It's home. Only the Willamette Valley and the Coast get all the clouds and rain. People seem to forget that half of Oregon is desert. Southern Oregon is in between... More sun, four seasons, but still lots of greenery and mountains. But I love every part of the state.

Washington - Eastern Washington is almost a desert as well, but I love both sides. I love the Northwest/West Coast culture and mountains and the ocean, so Washington was my next pick. It's a lot like Oregon.

California - The very northern part is just like Oregon. I love the Redwoods and North Coast. Very beautiful and very less populated than Southern Cali, which I actually don't mind that much even with all of its problems.

Alaska - See a pattern yet? It's more conservative, but I wouldn't mind living there for a while. The scenery is just incredible. I couldn't handle the snow and cold for too many years though.

Colorado - It's landlocked and I need to be near the ocean, but the mountains, weather, and overall feel of it make up for that. If it's gotta be landlocked, it's gotta have mountains. I get nervous when I can't see mountains. Colorado still feels like home even if it is far, far, far from an ocean.

Runner ups... Hawaii, North Carolina, Maine.

You picked Texas for the beaches??lol....That's usually one of our cons.

I prefer a progressive state that is not overcrowded with people. Also, there must be hills and/or mountains.
And oh yeah, four seasons.

Not sure how progressive you think it is, but Missouri has lots of hills and four seasons.

-NJ(my homestate)I like the scenery to the west, the beach, the proximity to NYC, the food, etc
-NY- NYC, also the st.lawrence river towns(beautiful)
-GA- No not for Atlanta but I am veryy fond of Savannah, had lots of fun in that city.
-RI- I found Providence enjoyable but liked a lot of its colonial-like beachtowns more a big mansion in Newport by the cliffwalk would be nice
-Washington DC isnt a state but its one of my all time favorite cities. Been there more times I could count. Love it.

I guess this goes along with the other poll about which state thinks it's better than the rest of the country. Let's just look at the state that's winning this poll...see any reason why we think we're better? Everyone else envies us and is jealous.
