~That's correct. These days they tend to move south toward the Carolinas or to the Washington, DC / Baltimore area. I would like to throw in West Virginia with that too, especially the northern panhandle and north-central WV.

On a side note, when Baltimore's shipbuilding industry was booming, many unemployed miners from the eastern Pennsylvania coal mines moved there for work.

To state the obvious. Washington with DC, Maryland and Virginia.

It’s interesting how the 3 interact since the “DMV” area is so intertwined. A metro of 6 million spread among the 3

Coming from one of the far western counties of Pennsylvania, Beaver Co., which has a border with Ohio and West Virginia, I find it odd to think of Penn State as "western PA". In any event, people from all over PA go to Penn State.

Definitely Detroit and Windsor, very much connected to each other, and together they form the greater Detroit/Windsor area.

Nobody mentioned an obvious one: NYC/metro area and Miami/South Florida.... in fact, Miami is often times referred to as the 6th borough.
