Agreed with all but Bridgeport. Outside of sports fandom leaning to NY and the MetroNorth passing by, there really isn't much New York City ties to Bridgeport.
I think right after Westport it really drops off.
Disagree - the Bronx to Bridgeport connection is strong. Also - machine politics - I suggest reading up on more of Bridgeport's history.
And to the original point, much closer connection to NYC than to Hartford, the state capital.
I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but Virginia Beach-Norfolk has a strong relationship with the Outer Banks of North Carolina/Eastern North Carolina. More recently, those communities (Elizabeth City, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, etc) have also been counted in the Virginia Beach-Norfolk CSA.
Pittsburgh has a growing exchange with West Virginia, at least in the northern half of the state. Many Pittsburghers attend West Virginia University in Morgantown, and the most popular professional sports teams in West Virginia are Pittsburgh teams.
Many cities and towns in northern West Virginia have become satellites of Pittsburgh, due to their close proximity. Weirton is a similar distance from Pittsburgh as Butler, Kittanning and Latrobe. Wheeling is a similar distance as New Castle, Indiana and Uniontown. Morgantown is a similar distance as Mercer, Johnstown and Somerset. Fairmont is a similar distance as Clarion, Punxsutawney and Ebensburg. Clarksburg is a similar distance as Meadville, DuBois, Altoona and Bedford.

well yes, Bronx to Holyoke MA bond is also strong given the influx. But I really don't see much, if any, NYC influence in Bridgeport. Its its own thing.
Houston and Louisiana. Alot of the attendees at the Shreveport casinos are from Houston
Shreveport casinos are more DFW.
Lake Charles, on the other hand, is full of people from Houston metro.
As other already mentioned there's also the "Katrina effect" - about 30k-40k that left NOLA in 2005 stayed in Houston even now - and this is just from Katrina alone.
Memphis and Northern MS. A lot of the population of metro Memphis is in DeSoto County, and somewhat in Marshall County. A lot of folks from Memphis go to Oxford etc. It has more cultural crossover with Mississippi than it does with Nashville.
