I am a progressive minded individual looking at different cities in the country to establish myself; I am majoring in international business so I am not too limited career-wise. A relatively inexpensive city would be nice but I am willing to trade off for a better quality of life. Weather is important to me I am used to pretty mild climates like South Georgia and Southern California. Not to sound racist but I like diversity but not the wrong type of diversity(ex Orlando, Detroit, Riverside, CA) Right now I am considering Portland OR, Tampa, Atlanta(I am about tired of GA though), Phoenix, Jacksonville , Miami, San Diego, and Houston. I would really appreciate other people's opinions!
Why are you tired of Georgia? if you list what you don't like about it, the forum will be better able to pinpoint an exact location that is right for you.
Georgia is inexpensive to live in but I hate the prevalent good ole boy mentality and the conservatism that prevails here even in parts of Atlanta. I grew up in Orange County, CA so I am used to more progressive areas.
Based on your statements above I would think San Diego would be more in tune with the 'mild' weather you're accustomed to.
What kinds of activities do you like to do when you're not working?

Wait a second, you grew up in the OC and you think Atlanta is too conservative?
I'm guessing you saw the show and think everybody lives in country clubs overlooking the ocean. Ever been to Santa Ana?
Yes I have. I have been to Garden Grove and Anaheim too. But as a whole? C'monnnnnnnnnnn, it's no secret that Orange County is one of the more solidly conservative leaning places, yes even in comparison to Atlanta which tends to be moderate liberal. And no, it's not just Laguna Beach that tends to be that way, it's all of South County that tends to be conservative and quite a good chunk of other areas.
Anyway, this is not a debate about how conservative or liberal Orange County is, this is about what city is ideal for the OP, and without some serious criteria, it's really hard to tell.
PS- I have never seen the show.
