I gotta ask - Portland OR or Portland ME?

I am only qualified to answer for Dallas, Austin, and Portland OR - I haven't been to Sacramento or Anaheim since I was a kid.

Dallas - Fast paced, inexpensive compared to many other large metros, large airport, great economy, pretty flat and sprawling but you will never run out of things to do, places to go and people to see, hot in the summer but nice mild winters.
Austin - quirky, fairly expensive, great food and restaurant scene, nestled in some beautiful terrain, quintessentially "Texan" in vibe, youthful, also hot hot hot in the summer but beautiful mild winters and springs.
Portland - Lots of rain and overcast skies, smaller than Dallas or Austin in both population and overall feel, youthful with less of a boisterous feel than Austin, feels less connected to much of the US.
