For example, I wish Jersey City, NJ would change its name to New Jersey City.

That's gonna be a solid "no" from me, man.

I agree. My mother is from Jersey City, NJ and I always used to call it New Jersey city. It just sounds more proper. Jersey City sounds similar to slang since many people refer to New Jersey as Jersey when speaking casually.

Yeah, and I'll bet you wish NYC to change its name to "York City"...

Kansas City, Mo always felt like an obvious candidate for renaming.

Reno's name has always felt underwhelming to me. We're just named after some Civil War general who never visited the city or even Nevada.

I like Native American place names, and Nevada could use more of them. Washo, which I've learned a bit of, is the language historically spoken in the Lake Tahoe area, so some candidate names (in an Anglicized form) would be:

"Dalock" - mountain
"Langal" - our home
"Watalelo" - by the river
"Simyangaya" - in the sand

I'll take the bait and throw the grenade into this discussion.

Columbus. All of them.

For real though, I've always been uncomfortable with Spread Eagle, WI.
