"The Best Harbor contest kicked off in January with 1,278 harbors across 23 states. During the nomination phase, readers of US Harbors narrowed down the list of eligible harbors leaving 90 across the US."
And the winner is....................
Padanaram Harbor in Dartmouth Massachusetts
For anyone who's never heard of it, or been to Dartmouth, Padanarm Harbor is a unique, incredibly charming place. It's beautiful in all seasons, but summer it really shines with hundreds of sailboats in port and concerts in the park. There's unique local eateries and boutique shops. Beautiful trails and nature located right next to it. Within a 5 minute drive is the beloved local town beach, Round Hill. Also the classiest and cleanest YMCA you have ever been too. 10 minute drive and you are at vinyard that feels like you might as well be in southern France.
I sometimes wonder if it is wise to draw attention to the beauty of the Farm Coast (Dartmouth, Westport, Little Compton). But if this story and real estate prices are any induction people are finding out any way, so why not.
The South Coast (Dartmouth, New Bedford, Westport, Wareham, Fall River, Free Town, Mattapoisett, Acushnet) is the best part of the country. 4 seasons, but winters and summers more mild than inland. Some of the best beaches in New England. Everything you ever need remarkably close by (even an international airport half hour away). Great food, great nature, incredible history, and close to the best medical care and education in America.
There are always going to be naysayers, and sure listen to their counterpoints, but understands this: The South Coast is on the come up, and the best place in America, get in here before it becomes unaffordable to do so. Good luck!
