Most people would probably agree coastal Southern California has the best year-round weather.

But, if you don't have or want to spend $800,000 (or more) to buy a one-bedroom condo on the ocean, what are some second-place runner-ups?

The criteria for good year-round weather with reasonable cost of living (COL) are:

1. Fewest days below 32°F (in winter)
2. Fewest days above 90°F (in summer)
3. Fewest snowy days
4. Fewest rainy days
5. Lowest summertime dew point levels (higher dew points = more "sticky" [humid & hot])
6. Fewest overcast/cloudy days
7. Median house price at or below the U.S. national median house price

I believe that Raleigh’s median home price is above average now, but the other 2 areas are below the national average in that regard.

Albuquerque, NM. Summer averages are just over 90 but with very low humidity. Meets all the other criteria.

If you dont need to live in a Large city look at Coos Bay, Oregon. Might be a little too overcast but it meets all of your requirements otherwise.

"But, if you don't have or want to spend $800,000 (or more) to buy a one-bedroom condo on the ocean..."

How about a 4-bd SFH a few blocks from the ocean for way less? And there's many others...

If you want all of those things, just pay for them.

Everywhere with that criteria is in a coastal CA county or on SF Bay.

Give up just one of those things, and options open up.

I agree and think given the criteria presented probably the front runners for "bang for the buck".

I agree with Albuquerque, given the criteria. Cool desert climate which typically stays under 95 and has many winter highs in the 50s and 60s. It will get quite cold over night and into the morning, however. It is very dry and rarely rains, and snow is even rarer (although I believe the past year saw a spike). Snow is plentiful in the mountains.

COL is about average, I think (not really sure about the national average). Good luck finding a good paying job in ABQ or NM. They are increasing, but NM lags any surrounding state in this regard.

I disagree that SoCal has the best year round weather. I personally prefer four distinct seasons with plenty of green and color in the springtime-autumn.
